Education

"It's a long way to the top if you want to rock and roll."

-AC/DC

My journey to becoming a Naturopathic Doctor has taken many twists and turns. I've wanted to be a doctor since I was 15 and discovered herbal medicine, but college wasn't possible at first so I went to work. As a young mother I worked blue-collar jobs ranging from construction, vet assistant, and SPED para while attending Arapahoe Community College. As a single mother I supported my son and I by cleaning houses while earning my BS in biology and chemistry at CU Denver, graduating with honors.

After earning my bachelor's degree I became frustrated with western medicine and almost gave up being a doctor. Symptoms were treated with no search for the cause. Patients were reduced to numbers and boxes to check, not seen as whole individuals. Pharmaceuticals were the only options given. I felt there had to be a better way but knew traditional MD medical school was not the way for me. It was talking with a friend about herbal medicine when I discovered Naturopathy and haven't looked back since.

I earned my Doctorate of Naturopathic Medicine from Bastyr University, the premier accredited school for naturopathic medical education in North America. I completed additional advanced training in sports medicine, pediatrics, women's health, and became BCIA certified as a biofeedback practitioner. I also learned basic cranial sacral, kinesio taping, and dry needling. After graduating I was privileged to be picked for a rigorous 2 year residency at Holistic Health Clinic, a busy naturopathic general family practice in Tacoma, Washington and did over 100+ internship hours at Mt. Rainier Medical Clinic in Gig Harbor, Washington as well.

Freetime

In my spare time I enjoy hiking with my family and fur babies, reading, yoga, swimming, reading some more, working on cars, and attending hard rock concerts with my friends.
